Sefer-i NÛN
Extracurricular activities at our school aimed to improve students' knowledge, manners, and abilities, increase their social communication skills, enable them to create an idea of civilization, recognize the values of societies, and learn hands-on.
"Sefer" means "expedition" or "journey" in Akkadian. The word is derived from the practice of leaving a trail behind during a journey. Each of these excursions is a part of a 12-year-long plan at NÛN Schools. We believe that these trips leave a mark on the students' hearts, in their academic careers, and their world of values in accordance with the meaning. Trips are planned according to the student's age, grade, NÛN Values, IB profile, ATL skills, interdisciplinary cooperation, international perspective, inclusiveness, and efficiency; thus, they form a spiral structure. A holistic design is made under the headings of pre-experience, application and post-experience.
In order for our students to get to know themselves and the universe closely and discover our civilization from its source, school excursions, planned inside the curriculum at the beginning of each academic year, become a source of inspiration and information for our students.
They can observe cultural heritage during domestic and international excursions. They realize the meaning and value of cultural heritages by seeing them on the spot. The travel plans are instrumental in developing students' hearts and minds, as they offer them the opportunity to socialize with people from all walks of life.
Our trips are designed to help students understand the values of our ancient culture by allowing them to see them firsthand. We visit historical and cultural sites so students can learn about our past and build a bridge to the future. We also take them to exhibitions and museums so that they can see works of art from different cultures and learn about different perspectives.
NÛN Schools offer high school students the opportunity to travel abroad and experience different cultures and geographies. Through visiting historical places and symbols from the past to the present, students can deepen their understanding of the accumulation of our ancient civilization. These journeys of discovery allow students to consolidate their knowledge and make a lasting impression on their inner worlds. They grow up as individuals who can respect different ideas and opinions. During their travels, students can expand their knowledge, gain new perspectives, and inspire their lives with new experiences in different climates.
